The EROS project brings together a multidisciplinary team comprising of: epidemiology, health service research, social anthropology, statistics, health economics, stroke medicine, rehabilitation medicine, neurology, quality assurance and audit. Expertise in International and European research into stroke and its coordination and dissemination is present in many participant centres and many partners have worked successfully on International and European projects.

The project is led by Professor Charles Wolfe has previously coordinated two European Union BIOMED projects relating to health services research in stroke and many of the participants have been involved in these previous projects. New skills have been brought into this project to answer unresolved questions from previous international stroke research. The new participants have been involved in coordinating such influential studies as the International Stroke Trial, the Cochrane Stroke Units Trialists’ Collaboration and other acute stroke pharmacological studies.
