In
January 2003, I started working as a Trial Co-ordinator on a secondary
prevention programme entitled ‘Stop Stroke’. This randomised controlled
trial is a new intervention aimed at reducing stroke recurrence in South
East London. In addition to handling all administration for the trial, I am
also responsible for extensive contact with the local hospitals and
distributing management plans to patients and GPs. My academic background
is in Sociology and Human Resource Management and I have previously worked
as a Programme Co-ordinator at City University, London and a Projects
Officer at the National Institute of Higher Education, Research, Science
and Technology (NIHERST) in Trinidad, W.I.
